Gryphon Digital Mining (NASDAQ:GRYP) is set to develop a natural gas-powered AI and data center in Southern Alberta after acquiring an 850-acre site from Captus Generation, a Calgary based subsidiary of BTG Energy, a midstream and power generation infrastructure company. The facility will start with 100MW capacity, aiming to reach 130MW by 2026, with potential scalability to 4GW.

The Alberta government is partnering with Enbridge (TSX:ENB) to expand pipeline capacity through streamlining regulations and permitting approvals to expand Enbridge’s existing pipeline network and boost U.S. exports.
Canada added 91,000 jobs in December, lowering the unemployment rate to 6.7 per cent (6.8 per cent in November 2024).. The Alberta unemployment rate was 6.7 per cent as well in December, an improvement from the 7.5 per cent recorded in the prior month.
Canada's merchandise trade deficit narrowed to $323MM in November from $544MM in October, as exports rose 2.2 per cent to $66.1B, boosted by higher prices.
U.S. crude oil imports from Canada hit a record 4.42MM bbls/d in the week ending Jan. 3, rising by 689,000 bbls/d, ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's proposed 25 per cent tariff on Canadian imports. Total U.S. crude imports fell by 498,000 bbls/d to 6.43MM bbls/d, the lowest in a month.
